Story
Our story begins in Normandy, in the year 1826, where Louise Andelys, the founder of the House, was born. From a very young age she was immersed in the world of flowers, thanks to her parents who cultivated hibiscus, roses and orchids, the symbol of Normandy. She will help them in their job as flower growers, which will give her this love for nature, flowers and more particularly this olfactory appetite.
One summer evening, as she was returning from the floral field, she placed a fine bouquet of fresh flowers next to her candlestick. After a few moments, a delicate smell settled in the room, she felt relaxed and soothed from her day.
As evidence, she understood that this feeling of well-being had to be shared. She then began to make her own candles with floral scents, in order to spread a sweet smell in the family home and that her parents could relax peacefully after their day's work.
In her time, candles were only used for lighting, so it was a small revolution around her home.
It was then that the Andelys house was born in 1846, when Louise was just 20 years old.
Over the years Louise D'Andélys has innovated and perfected her art of making vegetable wax candles, her goal being to reduce the use of animal fat. Its motto is “Working for nature and people”, a phrase that will remain in the codes of Maison Andelys. The wax blended flowers are produced and grown in an environmentally ethical manner in the fields of the city of Grasse. Indeed Louise D'Andélys had family in the south of France and the already established reputation of Grasse perfumers did not remain insensitive to her. So she decides, with the help of her family, to bring fresh flowers from this city.
All the current production of Andelys flowers is now done in the majestic and iconic fields of the city of Grasse.
In 1950 , at the crossroads between know-how and history, Andelys scented candles became a must in the homes of the upper middle class. The women come directly to order the scented candles from Louise, who uses her barn as a small factory and a shop. Some privileged customers even have the chance to personalize their candle with their own flowers.
In 1996 the diffusers were launched. A collection that will accompany the scents of candles and which can be found in the new Normande boutique.
A few years later, in 2003 , a collection of derivative objects is offered to the public so that the image and the mythical and artisanal history of the Maison Andelys becomes established a little more on a daily basis in all homes.
Since 2015, derivative and limited products have been offered on the website, with the logos of the house specially imagined by the essential artist Pauline Martinez who will also design all the new packaging of the products.
